Toquechicago is an ensemble dedicated to the exposure of Afro-Cuban folkloric music. The core members of the ensemble are strongly rooted in Afro-Cuban music, having studied with renown Afro-Cuban masters such as the late Jesus Alphonso from Matanzas and Regino Jimenez from Havana. All of the members of Toquechicago are all well known percussionists and musicians that come from a variety of musical styles and genres.
